How to grow a lemon house in the desert

Kazakhstan’s vegetable growers have a new serious competitor: the domestic market with cheap products takes Turkmenistan without a fight. Since last year, the country has been building modern industrial greenhouses one after another and filling up neighboring countries with vegetables. At this rate, it will soon become more profitable to buy than to produce your own, Zakon with a link to The first channel “Eurasia”.

Turkestan region can be compared to a large vegetable garden: more than 1,600 hectares of greenhouses in the region. An average of 90 billion tenge is harvested per year. Previously, the state allocated 10% of this amount to vegetable growers for subsidies, mainly they went to buy coal and gas. Last year, they stopped paying compensation. And Turkmen vegetables have replaced Kazakh ones, which was not the case before.

Myrzakhmet Sabev – Chairman of the Association of greenhouses in the region:

– And they have the cost of gas for 1 thousand cubic meters – 0.15 cents, and we have 90 dollars. We asked the government to subsidize gas only. We don’t need to pay with money.

The cost of maintaining greenhouses in the form of compensation has been allocated since 2010, at the rate of 1 million 300 thousand tenge per hectare. Two years ago, subsidies were left only to greenhouses that work all year round, and most importantly, grow products in winter. In 2018, this support also stopped.

Myrzakhmet Sabev – Chairman of the Association of greenhouses in the region:

– It used to be like this: they bought it in China, then in Uzbekistan, and now in Turkmenistan. They bring and sell in our market. And they earn good money. Should we continue to build greenhouses or should we also switch to this purchase and sale?

Guloga Yldyrymov – General Director of the greenhouse complex:

– Here you are, please-July, August, September. Three months. And if you work with artificial lighting all year round, you can take it for 10 months.

If investors in the South are not in a hurry to spend their millions on the construction of modern greenhouse complexes, then they will not be lured to the North at all. The costs are huge. There are no subsidies such as, for example, in dairy production. As a result, no modern year-round greenhouses have been built in the region.

Gulaga of Yldirim – General Director of the greenhouse complex:

– We are for all these years could afford to build a new greenhouse. Because a new greenhouse costs 1 hectare-more than 2 million dollars. This is, if you take it, 800-900 million tenge.

Subsidies to Northern greenhouses were very helpful. Especially in the long spring and short rainy summer. And now the year can not be called productive. These losses will fall on the final cost of production, otherwise you can go broke. The Majilis finally heard the complaints of vegetable growers. Suggested ways out of the situation.

Saken Kanybekov-Deputy of the Mazhilis Of the Parliament of Kazakhstan:

– The first is the resumption of subsidized costs of protected soil for industrial greenhouses. The second is to analyze how secure investment subsidies are by region, according to the submitted applications. Third , when receiving state support in the form of loans, use the principle of”one window”.

According to the Deputy, these measures will help to contain the imported vegetable pressure. While these proposals are being considered, vegetable growers will have to rely only on their own strength and dream that they will be given a state shoulder.

Gulaga of Yldirim – the General Director of a hothouse complex:

– Subsidies, of course, to avoid lobbying, give the right to those producers who produce normally, feed the people. Agriculture should always be supported. Without support, it’s hard, and it doesn’t matter if it’s South or North.

Meanwhile, the country is harvesting. Digging potatoes, salt, tomatoes, cabbage brew. Fresh will be in the winter, but at unrealistic prices. So these fine days are fed all year long – and it’s true.
