More than 100 thousand tons of indoor vegetables were collected in the Lipetsk region. Collection of vegetables of the protected ground are four of the greenhouse complex in the region. To date, a total of 100.7 thousand tons have been received. This is 35 percent more than a year earlier, when 74.8 thousand tons were received on the same date, the regional Department of agriculture reported.
Most of all cucumbers were collected-58.1 thousand tons, tomatoes were grown 42.3 thousand tons. About 300 tons of eggplant were also obtained.
According to the Ministry of agriculture of Russia, the Lipetsk region remains the leader in Russia by collection of vegetables in greenhouses with year-round growing cycle.
“Greenhouse vegetable production since 2014 is one of the main priorities in the development of agro-industrial complex of the Lipetsk region, – said the first Deputy head of administration of Lipetsk region Nikolai Tagintsev. – State support provided by the Ministry of agriculture of Russia in conjunction with regional support measures allowed investors to increase the area of modern greenhouses of the 4th and 5th generation by 20 times. The gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables has increased 19 times.”
