Uzbekistan will export lemons to 4 more countries

Uzbekistan has received a phytosanitary permit to export lemon to Japan, India, Myanmar and Ghana, the press service of the Uzdavkarantin inspection reported.

before that, Uzbek agricultural companies could export lemons to South Korea, China, the Philippines, Iran, Vietnam, Israel, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh and Jordan.

The largest importers of lemon from Uzbekistan are Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the export of lemons to Russia in January-April jumped 2.8 times. Uzbekistan ranked fourth in the supply of lemons to this country after Turkey, Morocco and Egypt.

In 2018, the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a program for the development of lemon growing. In accordance with it, in 2018-2021, it is planned to create new lemonariums on an area of 2.2 thousand hectares in Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Samarkand regions. About 30 thousand tons of lemon are grown in the Republic every year. By 2025, this figure should grow to 63.3 thousand tons.
