Scientists of East Kazakhstan intend to perform a real miracle – they want to return the juicy sweet taste to the strawberries loved by local consumers.
Residents of the region call the berry “Victoria” and note with regret that its taste is not the same: more and more often, only sour small berries can be grown in the garden or dacha. The scientists used biotechnology based on growing plants from the apical (apical) zones of plants. Up to the fifth cell, they are still free from viruses and other infections, KazakhZerno reports. Experts took several varieties for research, which were distinguished by high quality and productivity.Whiskers and unrooted rosettes of plants that grew in the field from July to September were used as starting material. The highest results were shown by varieties Orlets, First-grader and Vedensvil-1. The results obtained by scientists in the course of the study make it possible to increase the efficiency of the technology of accelerated propagation of strawberries in production. Thanks to our own planting material, you will not have to import seedlings from other regions of Kazakhstan. All of the above will only benefit local strawberries – they will again become large and sweet.
